The city of Langenfeld with approx. 60,000 inhabitants is located directly between the Rhine metropolises of Cologne and Düsseldorf. Located in the south of the Mettmann district, it borders directly onto the cities of Solingen, Leverkusen and Düsseldorf as well as the Rheinisch-Bergisch district.

The transport connections are excellent with 6 freeway connections (A 3, A 59 and A 542), 2 highways (B 8 Köln-Leverkusen-Düsseldorf (in Langenfeld L 219) and B 229 Solingen), as well as 2 stops of the S-Bahn line Cologne-Düsseldorf-Essen (S 6) and Langenfeld-Wuppertal (S 68). The Düsseldorf and Cologne/Bonn airports can be reached quickly in approx. 30 minutes via the freeway network.

Langenfeld is characterized by a broad medium-sized economic structure and a distinctive mix of industries.
